POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW: PHILOSOPHY
School of Historical and Philosophical Studies Salary: AUD$62,973* - AUD$85,452 p.a. pro-rata (*PhD Entry Level AUD$79,609 p.a.), The School of Historical and Philosophical Studies was formed in 2011 comprising the programs of History, History and Philosophy of Science and Philosophy, the Centre for Classics and Archaeology, the Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation and the Centre for Jewish History and Culture. The School wish to appoint a Level A Postdoctoral Fellow to assist with ARC project (DP150103801) "Meaning in Action: new techniques for language, logic and information" (CI Professor Greg Restall). The holder of this position is expected to contribute to the research project on proof theory, its philosophical foundations, and its connections to issues in semantics and pragmatics, broadly construed. The research fellow will be expected to engage in individual and collaborative research, to act as a co-supervisor of research students, and to play a role in administering the research project. The incumbent of this role is also expected to teach in and, at times, coordinate, undergraduate or postgraduate subjects. These include UNIB10002 (Logic: Language and Information), PHIL20030 (Meaning, Possibility and Paradox) and PHIL30043 (The Power and Limits of Logic). The appointee will also be engaged in other aspects of teaching and research within the School and the Philosophy discipline, and is expected to take on appropriate academic administrative responsibilities and make a contribution to the broader intellectual life of the School.
