Job description

The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a multi-year Limited-Term Appointment (LTA) at Trent University’s Oshawa campus, at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, commencing August 1, 2015, subject to budgetary approval. The contract is for three consecutive academic years, each of which runs from August 1st to April 30th. The LTA teaching load in the department is six courses. We offer the following combination of courses in the coming year, and we expect that teaching needs for the following two years will be similar:

Fall 2015
PHIL-1100H Introduction to Philosophy: Moral and Political
PHIL-1200H Critical Thinking
PHIL-2010H Love and Desire
Winter 2016
PHIL-1200H Critical Thinking
PHIL-2030H Death
PHIL-POST 3140H Justice and Rights

Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. or provide evidence that completion and defense is scheduled for the coming year. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is required, and experience with offering courses relevantly similar to those above is strongly preferred.
