Job description

The NYU Langone Medical Center seeks to recruit one person as post-doctoral fellow.  The position will begin after January 1, 2016 but starting date is negotiable.

Core qualifications for the positions include; an excellent record of quality scholarship and teaching.  Applicants must have a PhD, JD, or MD.  Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a strong scholarly career track in medical ethics/bioethics, the history of medicine, law and medicine or medical humanities.  

The appointment will be for one year and may be renewed for a second year.  The appointment will be in the Division of medical ethics (http://pophealth.med.nyu.edu/divisions/medical-ethics)

which is housed in the Department of Population Health at NYULMC (http://pophealth.med.nyu.edu) or, in medical humanities (http://www.med.nyu.edu/medicine/medh) in the Department of Medicine, depending on the qualifications of the applicant.  The post-doc will report directly to the Director of the Division of Medical Ethics and the Director of the Division of Medical Humanities. 

Successful applicants will have significant protected time to pursue research.  They will be expected to teach one class at the graduate level per year, to participate in mentoring students in projects and research, and to assist in teaching undergraduate medical students and residents through the divisions mentioned above as well as the through the Masters/Scholars Program in Humanistic Medicine.  Stipend is $55-70,000.  Health care and other benefits will be provided. 

NYULMC encompasses the NYU School of Medicine, three hospitals (Tisch, Rusk, and the Hospital for Joint Diseases) and a number of affiliates including Bellevue and the Manhattan VA Medical Center.
