Post-Doctoral Fellow (EXPIRED)

As part of a FWF-project (Austrian Science Fund), a postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences at the University of Salzburg for a duration of 3 years (Payscale: B1: the salary for this 0.5 fte position is € 1.773 brutto (14× year).

• expected starting date of contract: November 1st, 2015 (earliest)
• duration of employment: 3 years
• hours per week: 20 (i.e. 0.5 fte). There is a possibility to increase up to 1.0 fte, with a corresponding reduction of the duration of employment
• working time: upon agreement
• working place: University of Salzburg
• description of the work: collaboration on the project „Franz Brentano’s Descriptive Psychology“. The project deals with Brentano’s conception of descriptive psychology in his Vienna lectures (1887–1891). It proposes a reconstruction of Brentano’s research programme, it analyses the further developments of the programme in the school of Brentano and it investigates its significance and contribution to contemporary philosophy of mind. The project also comprises a transcription, an English translation, and an edition of the three Vienna lectures.
• condition of employment: completed PhD studies in philosophy.
• specialization and/or competence in at least one of the following fields: Austrian philosophy (in particular in the philosophy of Brentano and his school);  Early phenomenology (Husserl); Philosophy of mind;
• experience with original manuscripts (facultative)
• experience with edition work (facultative)
• fluency in English and German (mandatory)
