Job description |
Two posts of Doctoral Research Fellowship (SKO 1017) are vacant at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas at the University of Oslo (UiO). The Fellows will be supervised by Professor Herman Wright Cappelen and/or Professor Øystein Linnebo and be affiliated with Oslo Research Group in Theoretical Philosophy: http://www.hf.uio.no/ifikk/english/research/projects/otp/. Applicants are expected to work within the remit of the research group. Preference may be given to applicants whose research projects are connected with the project on “conceptual engineering”, as described on the mentioned web site. The successful candidate must participate in the research training program organized by the Faculty of Humanities (cf. regulations and supplementary provisions for the faculty's researcher education) and must engage in the designated research activities on a 100 percent basis. The person who is appointed will be enrolled in the Faculty’s organised researcher training. The academic study will terminate in a doctoral thesis which will be defended at the Faculty, leading to a PhD-degree. The successful candidate is expected to join the existing research milieu or network and contribute to its developement. Read more about the doctoral degree. The succesful candidate will be expected to have his/her residence and workplace in Oslo, and to be an active member of the philosophical community in Oslo. There is an agreement between the University of St. Andrews and the University of Oslo for a “joint Ph.D. degree” (double BADGED), and successful candidates can apply for this. The post is available for a period of three years starting Autumn 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter. Currently, PhD fellows who successfully submit their thesis within the three years period, are granted an additional fellowship year. Qualifications and personal skills
