Job description

Description:

The Philosophy department invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position. We aim to appoint a highly promising scholar trained in ethics and social psychology to carry on a research agenda in his or her area of specialization and to provide support for our teaching program.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have experience designing and overseeing empirical research into the effectiveness of teaching interventions, and should be able to design and oversee rigorous empirical research into the effectiveness of teaching interventions.  He or she will be able to analyze the experimental data collected and make recommendations based on the analyses. A background in philosophy (ethics, moral psychology) and social psychology is required.

 Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the applicant’s previous accomplishments and the promise of the proposed research project in ethics and moral psychology. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to teach up to two courses per year, pending approval by the Dean of the Faculty.

Applicants must have completed the requirements for the Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related field.

Term of Appointment:

 Appointment is for one year, with possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance. Applicants are expected to be in residence for the duration of the appointment. Princeton offers competitive salary and employee benefits.
