| Job description |
The University of Dallas needs to appoint an affiliate professor of philosophy for the academic year beginning on August 19th (classes start on August 26th). This is a one-year, full-time position with a 3/3 teaching load. A renewal of the contract is possible. In the fall semester, the new colleague will be expected to teach two sections of Philosophy and the Ethical Life (our introductory course), and one section of Continental Tradition. We therefore need a colleague with an expertise in Continental philosophy. Philosophy and the Ethical Life emphasizes Plato’s Republic and Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics. The University of Dallas is a Catholic university with a strong commitment to liberal education. Our core curriculum comprises twenty-two courses, three of which are in philosophy. We are looking for a colleague who is sympathetic to our approach to higher education. Our preference is for someone with a Ph.D. in hand. |
