Job description

The Department of Philosophy at San Diego State University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track position, to begin August 2016. AOS: Biomedical Ethics; AOC: Open.

The Department of Philosophy at San Diego State University has strengths in ancient philosophy, logic, modern philosophy, ethics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, Continental philosophy, and Asian philosophies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a PhD in Philosophy by the time of appointment and demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate will have an interest in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in biomedical ethics, ethics, and applied ethics; will participate in the Department’s Master’s program; and will develop a certificate in bioethics to serve matriculated and nonmatriculated members of the community, especially those employed in biological research and medical industries. The Department expects that the person hired will actively pursue and secure external grants to support her or his work.
