Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy, invites candidates for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Academic Year 2016-2017. The Department serves undergraduate majors and minors and has a doctoral program in Philosophy as well as two terminal masters programs: one in Philosophy and one in Social Philosophy. For a description of the Philosophy Department, please visit its website. http://www.luc.edu/philosophy/index.shtml Candidates should expect to serve the department's needs in bioethics and normative ethical theory at both the undergraduate and graduate levels (expertise in normative ethical theory is required); to teach courses in the core curriculum; and to assume the customary duties of committee work, thesis supervision, etc. Candidates must have earned a PhD in Philosophy by August 2016 [AOS: Bioethics, AOC: Normative Ethical Theory]. They should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education. Candidates should also be conversant with the Catholic tradition in bioethics, although this need not be their specific area of interest. |
