Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno, seeks candidates for a tenure-track position (Assistant Professor) to begin Fall 2016. Area of specialization (AOS): philosophy of science, with philosophy of cognitive science or philosophy of biology strongly preferred. Area of competence (AOC): open. The successful candidate must be prepared to teach philosophy of cognitive science (PHIL 434) as well as courses in the core curriculum, the department having a particular interest in candidates who can teach lower-division bioethics (PHIL 244) and/or an integrative course in science, technology, and society (PHIL 480). Ability to work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary neuroscience program at the university is desirable. All requirements for the PhD must be completed by July 1, 2016. The normal teaching load for research-active faculty is five courses per year. Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service to the university. Undergraduate and graduate student advisement, including MA thesis supervision.
