North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in philosophy at the rank of assistant professor to begin September 1, 2016. A Ph.D. in hand is required by the start date. Applicants should exhibit a potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, an eagerness to engage students outside of the classroom, and a commitment to scholarship. Strong preference will be given to candidates who will also contribute to the College's emphasis on interdisciplinary and integrative study by teaching in one or more interdisciplinary programs such as History of Ideas, Gender and Women's Studies, Global Studies, Environmental Studies, Middle Eastern and North African Studies, or in other cross-curricular partnerships associated with applied ethics. North Central College, founded in 1861, is a selective, comprehensive liberal arts college of 3,000 students, located in Naperville, Illinois, 28 miles west of Chicago and within walking distance of the Naperville Metra station.
