The Department of Philosophy at Portland State University (Portland, Oregon) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. AOS: Philosophy of Medicine and/or Biomedical Ethics. AOC: open. Ph.D. required by the date of appointment, September 16th, 2016. The position is shared between the Philosophy Department and Portland State University's award-winning general education program, University Studies, with Philosophy as the home department. In addition to strong research interests in the field(s) of AOS, a successful candidate will possess a commitment to general education and integrating philosophical inquiry into general education curricula, an interest in interdisciplinary work and faculty collaboration, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. The annual teaching responsibilities consist of six courses over three quarters that include a year-long interdisciplinary Freshman Inquiry class in addition to upper-division courses in the above area(s) of specialization. Other responsibilities include research, development of curricula in AOS, and professional service. To apply, follow the provided link to the 'Careers at Portland State University' website.
