Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

We seek a philosopher whose strengths complement those of the department’s.  A Ph.D. in philosophy by the time of appointment and an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications are required. The successful candidate will teach a mixture of introduction to philosophy, upper-division courses in philosophy in his/her area of specialization, a new 2000-level introduction to logic course that satisfies the Mathematics general education component, and will develop classes to expand the range of current offerings for philosophy minors.  At present, the philosophy program offers a minor only, and we seek a philosopher who can attract students to the minor. 

Teaching requirements for the first two years will be 3 courses per semester along with participation in the University’s New Faculty Investment Program. Teaching for the following years will be the regular course load of 4 courses per semester.  Committee service at the University will also be required as part of the successful candidate’s workload. The University is situated in Kingsville, Texas, approximately 45 minutes from Corpus Christi, 3 hours south of San Antonio and 4 hours south of Austin, Texas.
