Job description |
The “Hope & Optimism: Conceptual and Empirical Investigations” project invites applications for a residential dissertation fellowship for projects beginning Fall 2016. The recipient will spend AY2016-2017 in residence at Cornell University, and will receive a $25,000 stipend plus full tuition waver. Fellowships are intended for advanced Ph.D. students in philosophy and related fields who will be at the dissertation stage and working on topics related to the nature, conceptual structure, and normative aspects of hope, optimism, and related states. Candidates working on the opposites of hope and optimism (despair, pessimism, and so on), moral or practical arguments, and the notion of “progress” in political philosophy or the philosophy of history are also welcome to apply. We regret that wholly historical projects cannot be considered.
