Qualifications The Department of Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a full-time, nine month faculty position in philosophy beginning fall semester 2017 (August 28, 2017) or later. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in philosophy or related field required for appointment. Areas of specialization: open. Candidates will be assessed according to overall academic preparation in philosophy; the relevance of their research to the department's academic priorities and the field of inquiry, evidence or promise of becoming a leading researcher; evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher; and strength of recommendations. About the Job Appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year. Appointment will be made at the rank of professor with tenure or associate professor with tenure depending on qualifications and experience and consistent with collegiate and University policy. Faculty in the Department of Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts are expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research; develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses; advise students; and contribute service appropriate for the rank of appointment to the Department, College, University, and profession. About the Department The Department of Philosophy has particular strengths in the areas of logic and philosophy of mathematics; moral and political philosophy; and the philosophy of science. Additional areas of emphasis include philosophy of language, the history of philosophy; aesthetics; and feminist philosophy. The department offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs.
