Lecturer, Philosophy

 

Job Summary:

The Philosophy Program in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Houston-Downtown seeks to hire a Lecturer in Philosophy beginning August 2016. This is a one-year, renewable, non-tenure track position.  Area of specialization is open; areas of teaching competence must include at least two of the following: ethics, logic, and history of Western philosophy. Secondary areas of interest in Critical Race Studies or Latino/a Studies are especially welcome. The position has a 5/5 teaching load consisting of a mix of lower- and upper-level philosophy courses with a salary of $42,000/year (plus benefits). Excellence in undergraduate teaching is essential.

Requirements

 

Ph.D. by time of appointment is preferred, but ABDs will be considered.
