The Department of Philosophy and Humanities at Utah Valley University invites applications for a position as Ethics and Values Lecturer beginning August 2016. This is a renewable position up to three years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. AOS: Ethics. AOC: Open. Ethics and Values is a sophomore-level general education class required of all students at the university. As an interdisciplinary humanities course, it examines contemporary ethical questions from diverse perspectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence at teaching ethics and critical thinking skills to a general audience. Candidates that can bring a multi-cultural perspective to teaching ethics are encouraged to apply. The teaching load is five sections of Ethics and Values each semester on a nine-month contract, with possibilities for upper division teaching. Summer teaching for additional compensation is possible. PhD in philosophy preferred. Candidates must have experience teaching in a college/university setting and show evidence of commitment to teaching. Online teaching experience an asset.
