UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA, Tuscaloosa, AL. The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, beginning fall 2016. Teaching undergraduate courses along with the usual non-teaching duties. The philosopher hired must play an instrumental role in growing the Department’s Philosophy and Medicine Specialization. AOS: philosophy of medicine, broadly construed. Competence in analytic feminist philosophy is highly desirable. The philosopher will also be expected to teach courses in core areas of analytic philosophy. Ph.D. in philosophy should be completed by August 15, 2016. The Department will use a blind review of each applicant’s CV and writing sample to generate a short list of semi-finalists; those to be invited for on-campus interview will be selected from the semi-finalists. Each applicant must do the following: (1) submit online a CV that is suitable for blind review, and (2) submit online (attach to “Other Document 1”) a writing sample, strongly preferred less than 8000 words main text, also suitable for blind review. The CV and writing sample must NOT be identified by name and must NOT include information that would allow a reviewer to identify the applicant’s gender, race, sexual orientation, or other professionally irrelevant information about the applicant. Each applicant must also submit three additional items that will not be reviewed until after the list of semi-finalists has been generated by blind review: (3) strong evidence of teaching excellence as “Other Document 2,” (4) a photocopy of graduate transcript as “Other Document 3,” and (5) at least three letters of recommendation submitted by mail or Interfolio directly to:
