Assistant Professor - Philosophy

University of Massachusetts Lowell

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. AOS or AOC in applied or practical ethics. Primary teaching responsibility will be in ethics and the sciences, in particular Engineering Ethics, a required class for all engineering students. Candidates need not have prior experience teaching engineering ethics. The standard teaching load is 3/3 but faculty who meet university standards for research productivity are eligible for a 2/2 load. Applicants should provide evidence of effective teaching. Service to the Department and University is expected as well. Initial interviews will be held at the Eastern APA in January 2016. For those unable to attend the APA, we will consider alternative interview arrangements where feasible. Applications should be submitted by Dec. 1 to ensure full consideration. 

The Philosophy Department currently consists of eight full-time members. We offer a B.A. degree in philosophy. UMass Lowell is a public national research university with 17,000 students; it is ranked as a top-tier national university by U.S. News and World Report.
