Job description |
The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting in the fall of 2016. The primary qualification for the position is the ability to teach a variety of courses in the history of philosophy at both the undergraduate and at the graduate level. Candidates who are also able to contribute to the department’s specialization in ethics and political philosophy (including the program in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law (PPEL)) will be favored. Applications must include a curriculum vitae, a writing sample of no more than 25 pages, three letters of recommendation, graduate transcripts, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Salary is competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels for rank and position, and in keeping with candidate experience and credentials. Minimum qualifications for this position include a Ph.D; advanced ABD candidates will be considered but must complete degree by end of first year of employment.
