Visiting Assistant Professor, Philosophy, Non-Tenure-Track, Appalachian State University The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Appalachian State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track, possibly renewable, visiting assistant professor faculty position in Philosophy beginning August, 2016. The teaching load includes upper-division and General Education courses. Service work toward the recruitment of philosophy majors is also required. AOS: Medical Ethics. We invite both analytic and continental approaches. AOC: Must have experience as instructor of record teaching Environmental Ethics. In addition, it would be a plus if candidates can demonstrate ability to teach one or more of the following courses: PHL 1501 Mind, Knowledge, and Reality; PHL 1503 Selves, Bodies, and Cultural Diversity; PHL 2000 Philosophy, Society, Ethics. Ph.D. in Philosophy by May 1, 2016 required. Applicants must address the following in their letter of application: demonstrated success in recruitment of Philosophy majors, including efforts to recruit members of underrepresented groups in Philosophy; demonstrated ability in teaching; demonstrated scholarly accomplishments in Medical Ethics; and demonstrated willingness to participate in institutional affairs and professional service to the department and University.
