Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art is seeking to fill a full-time position in philosophy, tenure track, at the rank of assistant professor. While the candidate's AOC is open, he or she should be prepared to teach in such areas as the history of philosophy, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, and ethics. The position requires contributing to the freshman/sophomore core curriculum and teaching junior/level elective courses of the candidate's own devising, to be taught in small classes open to all students.  All candidates should have Ph.D in hand before applying.

Founded in 1859 and located in Manhattan, The Cooper Union is a highly selective, predominantly undergraduate institution granting degrees in art, architecture, and engineering. There are no majors in philosophy or the liberal arts. Successful candidates need to be committed to teaching as well as scholarly excellence.

The deadline for applications is January 7, 2016. The position begins September 2016.
