Job description |
The Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University, Washington, DC seeks applications for a tenure/tenure-track position, open rank, with a 2-1 teaching load, in practical ethics. The Kennedy Institute is a research and teaching center in practical ethics that emphasizes originality of theory and public intellectual engagement (see kennedyinstitute.georgetown.edu). While most faculty are philosophers, this position is open to scholars of any disciplinary training who engage with conceptual/normative approaches to ethical issues. The Institute has particular interests in adding faculty who specialize in science and values, genomics, data ethics, critical race theory, environmental ethics, or social justice issues in health, but applications from any area of practical ethics are welcome. The successful applicant will have a primary appointment to the KIE and secondary appointment to their disciplinary department, with full citizenship in that department. Teaching will be at both the graduate and the undergraduate level and may include graduate supervision. KIE scholars are also expected to engage in public intellectual work, contributing leadership in policy, community work, or other arenas beyond the academy.
