Job description

Bowdoin College Department of Philosophy invites applications for a one-year Mellon postdoctoral fellowship in Philosophy to begin July 1, 2016. Fellows are expected to teach three courses in the course of the year (a 2-1 load) and participate in the life of the department.  Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education, an active engagement in research, and a readiness to involve undergraduates in their research.

AOS: Open. AOC: Open, but with a preference for applicants who can teach Early Modern. 

Applicants for this fellowship must have completed their Ph.D. no earlier than January 1, 2013.  Candidates who expect to receive their Ph.D. by June 30, 2016 should provide documentation from their home institution confirming this schedule.  Applicants must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and a commitment to the liberal arts.

The fellowship carries a stipend of $50,000 plus benefits.  In addition, the position carries a $4,000 research and travel fund plus support to attend professional conferences.
