Job description

The Pozen Family Center for Human Rights and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Chicago is accepting applications for a three-year teaching position as Lecturer in Human Rights.  This appointment is renewable and is expected to begin in academic year 2016-17.

It is expected that the person appointed will teach six courses a year primarily for undergraduate students with at least some courses open to graduate students.  Of these six courses, it is expected that at least one will contribute to the Human Rights Core curriculum and at least one will be an introductory course in political philosophy.  Ability to teach both contemporary political philosophy and its history preferred.  Ability to bring theoretical approaches to human rights in contact with more practical approaches preferred.

The position requires a PhD in Philosophy with a focus on political philosophy and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
