Job description

POSITION:

Visiting Instructor in Philosophy for the 2016-17 academic year.

Salary: $38,000 plus full benefits. Domestic partner benefits available.

Fort Lewis College Department of Philosophy welcomes applications for a one-year Visiting Instructor position with specialization in any area in analytic philosophy, beginning Mid-August 2016 ending Mid-May 2017.

The ideal candidate will be well-prepared to teach introduction to philosophy, modern philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and advanced logic. The full-time teaching load for faculty at Fort Lewis College is 24 credit hours per academic year (four courses per semester).

ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

Fort Lewis College is a public, Liberal Arts College comprised of a School of Arts and Sciences, a School of Business Administration and a Department of Teacher Education. The student population of about 3,800 is diverse, with a multicultural student population of 43%.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand by August 15, 2016. Doctoral candidates who have completed at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline will be considered. 

College teaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong grounding and teaching competency in history of philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and logic.
