FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Social Science at New York City College of Technology of The City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Philosophy with an area of specialization in Ethics to begin Fall 2016. City Tech, a comprehensive college offering Associate and Baccalaureate Degrees, currently enrolls over 17,000 students and is located in downtown Brooklyn. The Department is dedicated to promoting student success and encourages its faculty to become involved in innovative educational approaches such as mentoring student research and learning communities. The position requires teaching, student advisement, curriculum development, college service, and active research and scholarship. The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to teach a wide range of introductory Philosophy courses (e.g., Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, and a number of applied ethics courses). The position also offers opportunities for interdisciplinary work and collaboration with faculty in the Schools of Arts & Sciences, Professional Studies, and Technology & Design.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. required. Teaching experience at the college level is required and the candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and learning. Experience with diverse student populations in urban settings is desired. The successful candidate will have an active research program and demonstrate a strong potential for scholarship. Research and publication are required for tenure and promotion.
