Job description

The Marc Sanders Foundation (MSF) is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Director to run the daily operations of the Foundation. The MSF is a 503c non-profit organization dedicated to the recognition and promotion of excellence within philosophy. We work alongside universities and other institutions to promote under-represented groups in academic philosophy, organize conferences and public lectures, and reward excellent research by way of recurring prizes in the areas of metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, meta-ethics, political philosophy, history of modern philosophy, and philosophy of religion. The Foundation also supports programs in public philosophy and encourages interest in philosophy among high school juniors and seniors. 

The Assistant Director of the Marc Sanders Foundation (MSF) plays a key role in the administration of the MSF as well as functioning as the public face of the Foundation at conferences and other events. The Assistant Director primarily liaises with and assists a designated member of the Board of Trustees. The Assistant Director may work from home.

Key Responsibilities

 Maintain and update social media (e.g., Facebook) and the MSF website

 Represent the Foundation at conferences and meetings

 Write a monthly report for the Board of Trustees on the Foundation’s activities

 Network with academics and other partners

 Handle email inquiries about project proposals

 Liaise with the Foundation’s accountant to authorize payments to prizewinners, conference speakers, etc.

 Work with prize administrators to coordinate announcements and awards

 Engage with the Foundation’s partner, HG media, as needed, for video and other media needs

 Work with an assigned Board member to produce the agenda and necessary documents for the Foundation’s annual general meeting

 Organize, under the direction of the Academic Board, events such as the annual two-day MSF conference.
