Job description

Preference may be given to applicants working in the following areas in which the Department has particular research strengths: the History of Philosophy (especially Ancient and Early Modern); the areas associated with the Centre for the Study of Mind in Nature: Rational, Linguistic and Moral Agency; the Philosophies of Logic and Mathematics; and Conceptual Engineering.

The candidates will be expected to have their residence and work place in Oslo, and to be active members of the philosophical community in Oslo.

There is an agreement between the University of St. Andrews and the University of Oslo for a Joint Degree program, and successful candidates can apply for this (tuition requirements may apply at St. Andrews).

The posts are available for a period of three years, starting as soon as possible. Currently, PhD fellows who successfully submit their thesis within the three-year period are granted an additional fellowship year.

Salary level 50 - 56 (NOK 430 500 - 475 400, depending on qualifications), approximately $52,500-$57,750 per year.

A Master's Degree or equivalent in a field relevant to the topic of the doctoral dissertation. The Master's Degree has to have been achieved by the time of application.
