Job description

Assistant Professor – Philosophy
£34,576 to £46,414 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

Applications are invited for the above post based at the Humanities Building, University of Nottingham.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and making an excellent contribution to the Department’s research profile and culture. They will be expected to pursue opportunities for impact and public engagement with philosophy, and to contribute to the administration of the Department. The successful candidate will have a specialization in at least one of The History of Philosophy (taken to include any area and tradition) or Applied Philosophy (broadly construed: indicative areas include, though are not  restricted to, applied ethics, feminist philosophy, and the philosophy of any of law, politics, economics, medicine and education).

Candidates must have a PhD (or close to completion) in in a relevant area of Philosophy. Candidates must have the ability to make a strong individual research contribution to the Department’s submission for the next REF exercise through excellent publications, and the ability to contribute excellent undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.  This post is open to Job Share.
