Job description

ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, TEMPE, AZ (Job 11622). The School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies at Arizona State University invites applications for a full time Lecturer in Philosophy. Area of Specialization/Competence: Open. Teaching may occur in an online (7.5 week semester) and/or on-ground (15 week semester) environment. This is a fixed-term, academic year (nine month) appointment with no tenure implications. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university.  Anticipated start date is August 16, 2016. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy prior to appointment,

  • Evidence of high quality teaching. 

  • Must be able to teach Philosophical Writing and Argumentation for majors and Principles of Sound Reasoning for students with academic deficiencies, as well as two or more of the following: Applied Ethics, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Law, Introduction to Philosophy.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of successful online instructional experience at the university level
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse and/or faculty populations.
