Job description

The New School for Social Research and Eugene Lang College the New School for Liberal Arts in New York City seek applicants for an open-rank appointment with the Department of Philosophy to begin Fall 2017.

The area of study is open. The department has particular interest in adding faculty who specialize in Philosophy and Race/Postcolonialism; Critical Environmental Studies; and Critical Theory.  We are searching for an outstanding philosopher whose research interests will support and harmonize with the traditional research strengths of the NSSR Philosophy Department: Contemporary European Philosophy, History of Modern Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy.  The successful applicant must have a significant record of research excellence, as well as a demonstrated commitment to quality undergraduate and graduate teaching.  Our teaching load is the equivalent of five courses per year which consists of four classroom courses, two undergraduate, two graduate, with the usual non-teaching duties; the fifth course is comprised of dissertation supervision. Salary competitive.
