AOS Philosophy of Mind with interdisciplinary connections The Department of Philosophy, Bates College, in Lewiston, Maine, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position. Tenure track positions at Bates have a 5-course teaching responsibility. Ph.D., preferred, ABD will be considered. The Area of Specialization (AOS) is Philosophy of Mind. We are especially looking for candidates with competencies in the relations among philosophy and psychology, neuroscience, and cognitive science, and whose teaching could contribute to one or more of the college's interdisciplinary programs. Area of Concentration (AOC) is open, although the department has interest in candidates with teaching competence in philosophy of science. The College and the Philosophy Department are committed to enhancing the diversity of the campus community and the curriculum. The successful applicant must be interested in innovative approaches to teaching philosophy. Indeed, attracting diverse groups of students to the study of philosophy, starting with undergraduate classes, is an ongoing challenge for the discipline.
