Assistant Professor (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting in the fall of 2017.  Areas of Specialization: Social and Political Philosophy, or Ethics.  Areas of Competence: Continental Philosophy.  Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate classes, graduate seminars, and advising graduate students.  At the undergraduate level, teaching responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, courses with a significant emphasis on authors and themes in the continental tradition, e.g., existentialism, phenomenology, continental political theory.  We would especially welcome applicants who can, as well, teach aesthetics at the undergraduate level.  At the graduate level, teaching responsibilities will include offering seminars in social and political philosophy or ethics relevant to our graduate programs in Applied Philosophy (for more information, see https://www.bgsu.edu/arts-and-sciences/philosophy/graduate-program.html). Applications must also include a curriculum vitae, a writing sample of no more than 25 pages, three letters of recommendation, graduate transcripts, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
