Research Position in Philosophy and Theory of Languages

The Università degli Studi di Milano invites applications for a three-year appointment in Philosophy and Theory of Languages. After three years, the candidate will be eligible to apply for another three-year position (whose opening is contingent upon university funds). After six years, the candidate is eligible for a tenured Associate Professor position (contingent upon achieving "abilitazione" as well as upon university funds). 

In Italy, the discipline of Philosophy and Theory of Languages (MFIL-05) includes philosophy of language and mind as well as formal semantics.

Teaching load: Researchers are not required by law to teach courses. However, in our department, it is customary for researchers to teach one course (60 hours) a year. In addition, researchers are required to perform tutorial services and light non-teaching academic duties. 

Monthly salary (net): about 1800 euros

The complete dossier includes

(a)   one copy of your passport and social security number

(b)  two copies of your cv, dated and signed

(c)   a copy of your Ph.D. diploma and any other document or relevant diploma to be taken under consideration for your evaluation. Each copy of the documents should be accompanied by a signed declaration by the candidate stating that the copy conforms to the original (how the declaration should be stated is specified in ALLEGATO C).

(d)  two copies of a numbered list of your publications (MAXIMUM 12) that you wish to submit for evaluation, dated and signed (do NOT include copies of the  publications in the dossier, just include the list in two copies).

(e)   a copy of the receipt of the 25.82 euros application fee. The payment must be made by wire transfer to:

Non-European applicants: the procedure is the same for European applicants, except that step (c) is replaced by step (c’):
