Lycoming College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Philosophy at the rank of assistant professor, beginning Fall 2017. The position has a 3/3 teaching load, undergraduate only. AOS Philosophy of Science with an emphasis on Philosophy of Biology and Cognitive Science. The successful candidate will teach an upper-division course in Early Modern Philosophy once every two years, must have demonstrated competence to teach a basic course in formal logic through quantification, and willingness to teach a variety of introductory courses. Applicants must have a PhD completed prior to appointment; experience preferred. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate liberal arts environment and evidence of potential for continuing scholarship. Lycoming College is a four-year, private liberal arts college dedicated to the undergraduate education of 1,400 students. The college has a vibrant residential community and is located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, a city of approximately 30,000 in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania near the banks of the Susquehanna River, which offers ample opportunities for cultural entertainment and outdoor recreation.
