Visiting Assistant Professor (EXPIRED)

The Hope College Department of Philosophy invites applications for a position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin in Fall 2017. We have a preference for hiring individuals with ability to teach courses that cross traditional disciplinary and divisional boundaries. Examples of such courses would include those treating philosophical issues in Business, Ecology, Economics, Sustainability, Technology (including Artificial Intelligence), Race, and Gender, but the possibilities are not to be understood as limited to the topics listed. Area of Specialization:  Open. Area of Concentration: History of Philosophy. Ability to teach interdisciplinary humanities courses strongly preferred.  Job responsibilities include teaching 12 credits (usually three courses) each semester. A considerable portion of the teaching load will be in disciplinary or interdisciplinary general education courses. Strong candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and to the character and goals of a liberal arts college with a Christian perspective.
