The Program in Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law (PPEL) and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Richmond invite applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level to begin August 2017.

We seek a candidate with a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education and primary research and teaching expertise in political philosophy.  Among the required teaching responsibilities will be an undergraduate course in rational choice theory broadly construed, including decision-theory, game theory, and social choice theory.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 2/3 course load per year. We seek individuals with demonstrated teaching excellence.   A Ph.D. is required.  ABDs will be considered, but must have completed the Ph.D. degree by the start date.

Applicants should apply online at jobs.richmond.edu using the Faculty (Instructional/Research) link.  Applicants are asked to submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, a summary of current teaching and research interests, a writing sample, and names of three references, at least one of whom addresses the candidate’s teaching ability, who will receive an automated email asking them to submit their reference letters to this website.  Applications should be received by November 1, 2016.

The University of Richmond is committed to developing a diverse workforce and student body, and to modeling an inclusive campus community which values the expression of difference in ways that promote excellence in teaching, learning, personal development, and institutional success. Our academic community strongly encourages applications that are in keeping with this commitment. For more information on the PPEL program or the philosophy department, see http://ppel.richmond.edu and http://philosophy.richmond.edu.
