SEATTLE UNIVERSITY Department of Philosophy Full-time, Tenure Track Position Assistant Professor of Philosophy The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences at Seattle University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting fall 2017. The ideal candidate will have a specialization in Medieval Philosophy (Jewish, Christian, or Islamic ) together with a strong background in the general history of philosophy, demonstrated teaching excellence, strong scholarly potential, some familiarity with the Catholic intellectual tradition, and the ability to engage with colleagues representing diverse philosophical traditions. We also have curricular needs for someone who can teach Philosophy of Science, Core Analytic Philosophy, and Healthcare Ethics. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses across the curriculum, including the two required philosophy core courses (Philosophy of the Human Person and Ethics), and the History of Medieval Philosophy for Philosophy majors and for students enrolled in our University Honors Program; will maintain a productive research program; and will provide service to the department/school/university.
