Assistant Professor - Philosophy of Psychology (EXPIRED)

Subject to budgetary approval, the Department of Philosophy at Carleton University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to start July 1, 2017. The area of research specialization is the philosophy of psychology (especially, moral psychology). The areas of teaching competence include the philosophy of mind and normative ethics. The nominal teaching course load (excluding graduate supervisions, tutorials, and other assignments) is 2+2.

The Department of Philosophy (carleton.ca/philosophy) combines award-winning teaching with excellence in research. The department's strengths are in two main areas: moral, social, and political philosophy, and the philosophy of mind, language, and knowledge. Several members of the department are active researchers in the history of philosophy. The department has close ties to the Centre on Values and Ethics (www.carleton.ca/cove) and the Institute of Cognitive Science (www.carleton.ca/ics), and is the administrative home of the newly established Ph.D. program in Ethics and Public Affairs (carleton.ca/ethics).

We seek an outstanding scholar with a Ph.D. in philosophy and a demonstrated potential for excellence in both teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs, develop a program of research leading to significant peer‐reviewed publications, and contribute effectively to leadership in the department.
