Job description |
The Underwood International College (UIC) of Yonsei University, Korea invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Asian Philosophy at the Yonsei International Campus in Songdo, located within the greater Seoul metropolitan region. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Asian Philosophy or related field will be considered for the position. The main teaching assignment will be World Philosophy (introductory philosophy class) and/or Critical Reasoning. Additionally, the candidate must be willing to teach a first-year, college-wide lecture course in Eastern Civilizations on a rotating basis. Candidates should have a firm commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. Teaching responsibilities are 6 credit-hours (2 classes) per semester. The starting date is March 1 or September 1, 2017. Compensation includes a competitive salary, health insurance and other benefits, subsidized housing (for up to 6 years), a relocation package, and start-up research funds. Yonsei University's Underwood International College is a highly competitive program at South Korea's most prestigious private university, and combines the intimate atmosphere and low student-faculty ratio of a liberal arts college with the resources of a major research university. All instruction is in English, and the student body represents over 50 different countries. As part of Yonsei University’s continuing effort to increase faculty diversity, we are only accepting applications from non-Korean citizens. Interested applicants should apply online at http://uic.yonsei.ac.kr/professorship/application.asp, including a short letter of application detailing research and teaching interests, writing sample, c.v., sample teaching syllabi, and teaching evaluations. Complete student evaluations from all of your recent teaching assignments are preferable. In addition, three letters of recommendation should be sent by email to [email protected]. All materials should be submitted by 23:59 Monday, October 31, 2016 KST(15:59 Tuesday, November 1, 2016 PST). Prospective applicants are encouraged to look at our website at http://uic.yonsei.ac.kr. If you have not heard from us by December 15th, 2016, then please assume that you have not been short-listed at this stage of the application process. Short-listed candidates will be asked to schedule a video-conferencing interview. For further questions about the position, please contact Prof. Nikolaj Jang Lee Linding Pedersen ([email protected]). |
