The Department of Philosophy at Adelphi University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 2017. Applicants should have a PhD or evidence of the PhD being completed by August 2017.  AOS: Applied Ethics (The department has strong needs in Environmental Ethics and Biomedical Ethics). AOC: History of Philosophy, Social & Political Philosophy.

We welcome applications from candidates who will be effective teachers of a diverse student population and who are actively engaged in a promising research agenda. The department particularly welcomes candidates with a pluralistic training in philosophy and a broad interest in the history of philosophy. Teaching duties include a range of philosophy courses at the undergraduate level with a 3 course per semester teaching load. Candidates with a breadth of teaching interests and abilities are especially welcomed. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include participation in department, school, and university activities.
