Job description |
KENT STATE UNIVERSITY, KENT, OH. Assistant Professor, tenure-track, beginning fall, 2017. 6 courses/year, undergraduate and graduate. Some MA thesis supervision. Usual non-teaching duties. AOS: Philosophy of mind or philosophy of psychology, informed by continental traditions. AOC: At least 2 from among the following: Continental philosophy, with a focus on a historical period from the 19th century to the present; Kant; hermeneutics; critical race theory and/or feminist theory. Interested candidates should consult our website, http://www.kent.edu/philosophy, and articulate in their cover-letter which of the eight courses in our junior-level history sequence they are prepared to teach, especially our courses in German Critical Philosophy and 19th Century Philosophy, as well as how their expertise in continental philosophy will complement our existing faculty’s strengths. We seek someone who will thrive in and augment the department’s pluralism, which includes a diverse faculty and a commitment to philosophy across continental, analytic, pragmatist, and non-Western traditions. As part of a University-wide investment in a Brain Health Center we seek a candidate who will contribute expertise in pluralistic philosophy of mind or psychology, beyond our existing strength in analytic philosophy of mind and science. Undergraduate teaching, research/publication experience, and Ph.D. in philosophy required. Competitive salary. Apply online at: http://apply.interfolio.com/38609. Online interviews will be scheduled after the December 1, 2016 deadline. This institution has confirmed that the position advertised will follow the APA's recommended job market calendar.
