Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Department of Philosophy in the School of Humanities (Ref.: 201601309)
Applications are invited for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy in the School of Humanities, to commence on September 1, 2017, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal for another three-year contract. Appointee with demonstrated performance will be considered for tenure towards the end of the second three-year contract.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Philosophy. Area of Specialization and Competence are open. The appointee is expected to develop a vigorous, independent research programme, to excel in undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision, and to handle the usual non-teaching duties. Total teaching load will be three to four courses per year, including introductory first-year courses and teaching in the university’s Common Core. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered, as well as annual leave and medical benefits. The Assistant Professor salary range is currently HK$645,900 - $998,280 per annum. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
