Job description |
The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University invites applications for the position of Nancy Schaenen Endowed Visiting Scholar of Ethics for the 2017-2018 academic year. We seek a scholar or artist with strong interest, expertise, and record of accomplishment in ethics through the lens of any discipline. Successful candidates will be passionate about the teaching and study of ethics in the liberal arts undergraduate curriculum and will be committed to fostering an engagement with a diversity of ideas and experiences and to promoting an inclusive environment at the Institute and at the University. The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics provides a compelling physical space and a distinctive forum for DePauw students, faculty, and staff that fosters ethics education, research, and dialogue. The Institute also has a national outreach mission to encourage everyone to think more deliberately about the intersection of ethics and critical issues of race, class, gender, sexuality, and society. The Prindle Institute has twenty-five distinct projects and services in five program areas: Digital Services/Media, Campus Programs/Lectures, Education, Research, and Community Engagement.
DePauw University is a nationally-recognized, leading liberal arts college with a rich tradition of engaging with the critical issues of our time. A powerful example of this engagement is DePauw Dialogue, an annual campus-wide event for faculty, staff and students to examine their individual role in building a shared community. On this day, we expand the classroom to the entire campus to come together and address bias, difference, privilege, and identity. Submit a letter of interest, c.v., statement of proposed courses/projects, writing sample, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Candidates should be able to demonstrate, in application materials, a commitment to fostering an engagement with a diversity of ideas and experiences, which promote an inclusive environment at the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics and at DePauw University. Review of applications will begin on November 30 and will continue until the position is filled. |
