Associate Professorship or Professorship of Philosophy The Faculty of Philosophy proposes to appoint an Associate Professor from 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post will be held in conjunction with a Tutorial Fellowship at Somerville College, Oxford. The appointment will be a permanent post (after initial probation) and will be on a salary scale of £45,066 to £60,513 p.a., those appointed below the top of this range will receive annual increments until they reach the top point. The main duties of the postholder will be to engage in research at an internationally competitive level in Feminist Philosophy/Theoretical Philosophy (the person appointed will have at least an area of competence in Feminist Philosophy, and an additional area of specialization in some area of theoretical philosophy) and provide a high standard of research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They should be able to provide eight contact hours of tutorial teaching in Philosophy each week during full term for Somerville College. The Associate Professorship involves giving, under the direction of the Faculty of Philosophy, not less than sixteen lectures and classes in each academic year. The Tutorial Fellowship involves making an appropriate contribution to the supervision and teaching of graduate students. The successful applicant will share in University examining as reasonably required and undertake a reasonable share of faculty and college administrative duties. They will also share pastoral duties and participate in the organisation of Philosophy teaching in College. They will be expected to participate in the undergraduate admissions process in College. Applicants should note that the appointment involves two separate contracts, one with the College and one with the University, and the postholder will be expected to undertake duties (as outlined in the further particulars) for both the College and The Faculty of Philosophy.
