Job description |
Mount Mary University announces a tenure track position in philosophy beginning August 20th of the 2017-18 academic year for an assistant professor of Philosophy. AOS open but we are particularly interested in a candidate with competence in Contemporary Philosophy, Aesthetics, or Non-Eurocentric Philosophy. The successful candidate must, also, have a strong competency in ethics and the history of Western philosophy including the interconnections between philosophy and theology. Excellence in teaching is the highest priority. Teaching load is 12 credits a semester on a 9 month contract which includes teaching cooperatively with a theologian in a joint taught fundamental core class called "Search for Meaning." Consistent with the mission of the University, the successful candidate will reflect a commitment to social justice, an understanding of and appreciation for the Catholic intellectual tradition, and a commitment to the education for leadership of a diverse community of women. Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand by the start of appointment is required.
