Job description |
The Department of Technology, Culture and Society at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering invites applications at the rank of Industry Assistant or Industry Associate Professor, depending on qualifications. New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering has the distinct history of having been known previously as Brooklyn Poly and the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. Industry professors have full-time, non-tenure track, renewable appointments. The Department of Technology, Culture, and Society is an interdisciplinary department offering three undergraduate majors in Science and Technology Studies, Sustainable Urban Environments, and Integrated Digital Media, as well as a MS in Integrated Digital Media. It also offers general education courses that emphasize the intersection of the humanities and social sciences with technology. Duties for this position include teaching undergraduate courses, and some duties to administer the department’s major in Science and Technology Studies. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies or a related discipline (for example History, Philosophy, or Anthropology of Technology) and have a record of excellence in teaching. We are particularly looking for applicants who can teach courses in fields that relate humanities and/or social sciences to technology. The strongest candidates will have a solid background in Science and Technology Studies, and may also contribute to one or more of the department’s other programs in Sustainable Urban Environments and Integrated Digital Media. New York University is an Equal Opportunity Employer. NYU does not discriminate due to race, color, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender and/or gender identity or expression, marital or parental status, national origin, ethnicity, citizenship status, veteran or military status, age, disability, unemployment status or any other legally protected basis, and to the extent permitted by law. Qualified candidates of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to apply for vacant positions at all levels.
