The School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry (SOPHI) is one of five schools in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, made up of the departments of Archaeology, Classics and Ancient History, Gender and Cultural Studies, History, and Philosophy. The School brings together an exciting group of academics and students who participate in a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It is home to some of the leading researchers and teachers in Australia and the world, as well as regularly hosting prominent visitors and international colloquia.

Philosophy at the University of Sydney has research strengths in philosophy of science, history of philosophy, philosophy of mind, philosophical logic, metaethics, ethics, decision theory, American pragmatism, feminist philosophy, and metaphysics.

We invite your application for the position of Lecturer in Political Philosophy.

In this position you will:

• teach introductory units of study, as well as specialised higher-level courses
• supervise doctoral and other postgraduate research in  your specialist field
• publish your research in well-regarded peer-reviewed international publications
• seek research funding from internal and external sources
• contribute to academic administration.

To be successful you will need:

• a PhD in a related area of philosophy
• experience as a skilled philosophy teacher at the tertiary level
• demonstrated research expertise in political philosophy through high quality publications.

The expected commencement date is mid-2017.
