Associate Professor University of Massachusetts Boston The Department of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts, Boston invites applications for an Associate Professor to direct its new Applied Ethics Center with an expected start date of September 1, 2017. The position requires a deep grounding in applied ethics very broadly construed to include issues in: science and technology, medical ethics, business ethics, global development ethics, environmental ethics and climate change policy, human rights, moral psychology, race, gender, education and other areas. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in philosophy, unless distinguished work in philosophy is combined with an equivalent terminal degree. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in organizational development and fundraising, a distinguished record of relevant scholarship, and a national reputation. In addition a successful candidate will have an interest in interdisciplinary work and faculty collaboration, and will have demonstrated excellence in teaching. Job responsibilities include teaching 2-3 courses per year at the undergraduate level, grant writing and events planning.
